WILDFIRE — 1 ENE Atkinson, GA
As of 4/24/26 at 2:46pm ET, the Georgia Forestry Commission reports that the HWY 82 wildfire has grown to 13738 acres, with approximately 10% containment. Approximately 100 structures have been destroyed, and mandatory evacuations continue for portions of Brantley County, as well as in southern Wayne County as of 4/25/26.

The Pineland Road Wildfire is now estimated to be 16,516 acres, with an approximate 10% containment as of Wednesday morning, April 22nd.

Delayed report - the County Manager for Brantley County reports that at least 42 structures have burned due to the Highway 82 Wildfire. The Georgia Forestry Commission reports that this wildfire has grown to nearly 3,800 acres, with approximate 10% containment. Local broadcast media reports that mandatory evacuation orders were issued for portions of Brantley County on Tuesday afternoon and evening due to this wildfire.

All lanes of US Highway 82 at Cohen Road are closed due to an active wildfire in the area. Reported by GA DOT. This fire is approximately 700 acres during the last update from GA Forestry Commission.
