Island Fire
U.S. Wildland Fire Service wildland firefighters are responding to the Island Fire, which was reported on July 25 at approximately 9 p.m. The fire is located about 25 miles southwest of Ehrenberg, Arizona, in the Cibola National Wildlife Refuge. The fire is estimated to be approximately 3,145 acres and is 92% contained. Closures: The Cibola National Wildlife Refuge’s Island Management Unit is closed to the public and Hart Mine Road is closed at the refuge boundary. The bridge on Hart Mine Road crossing the Colorado River collapsed into the river. Pedestrians, motorists, and boaters should avoid the area.
