Egypt Fire
A lightning storm moved through Eastern Oregon on July 15, 2026, igniting multiple fires. The Egypt Fire was discovered on the morning of July 16, 2026. Initial attack resources from the Burns Interagency Fire Zone responded promptly but were spread thin due to several other starts in the area. Southern Area Team 2 took command of the Egypt Fire on July 19 at 6 AM. Priorities remain public and firefighter safety, private lands, and critical infrastructure. Firefighters are working the fire as directly as possible to protect these values at risk, using both ground resources and multiple helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.
